Rivers of My Soul

The flow…

Must see TV?

Oh must I?  I’m not a huge fan of television, but ya know… it’s just so damned seductive! lol!  Here’s a few things that have lured me in.

Television ~

McLeod’s Daughters – Two Aussie half-sisters… Spontaneous, audacious Tess and reticent, stubborn Claire are reunited by their father Jack’s recent death and try to make life work for themselves on their family ranch, Drover’s Run.

Coupling -  A BBC television series offers the same virtual scenario as the New York-based series ’Friends’ with one exception: a greater emphasis on sex. Six friends in various stages of relationships are caught in hilarious and often embarrassing situations that usually lead to sexual tension, if not out-and-out sexual activity.

Cracker – Fitz is a classic antihero, unfaithful to his wife, alcoholic, a chain smoker, overweight, addicted to gambling, manic, foulmouthed and sarcastic; and yet cerebral and excellent at his speciality: getting into the heads of violent criminals. As Fitz confesses in “Brotherly Love”: “I drink too much, I smoke too much, I gamble too much. I am too much.” Fitz is played by the actor Robbie Coltrane. Yep, Hagrid from the Harry Potter movies!

Movies ~

The Razor’s Edge (1984 version with Bill Murray)
Larry Derrell returns from World War I disillusioned with Jazz Age values. He undertakes a quest which leads him to reject his rich fiancee, Isabel, and his superficial lifestyle, to go search for truth in the Himalayas. But, Larry learns that the path to enlightenment is as difficult as treading the “sharp edge of a razor.” Back in civilization, he tastes life’s dark side when he tries to save Sophie, a hometown girl turned prostitute.

Something’s Gotta Give
Sixty and still sexy, Harry (Jack Nicholson) is having the time of his life, wining, dining and bedding women half his age. When he meets an auctioneer (Amanda Peet) and agrees to go to the Hamptons with her, he’s convinced he’s in for a sinfully fun weekend. Plans go awry when her playwright mother, Erica (Diane Keaton), stops in unannounced, and Harry soon discovers there’s nothing wrong with — and plenty good about — acting your age.

Braveheart
All for the love of a woman. His new bride, his childhood sweetheart is slaughtered. What man wouldn’t declare war on the world?

American Beauty
If you are a man and have been thru mid-life crisis, watch it.

Recently viewed and would watch again -

Sin City
It’s a guy thang.  You just wouldn’t understand.  Think women in thongs, tough guys and lot’s of blood.

Rudy
Based on a true story, it’s about the triumph of the human spirit. A scrawny high schooler Rudy Ruettiger (Sean Astin) dreams of playing football at Notre Dame. But his father (Ned Beatty) can’t afford to send him, and his mediocre grades don’t cut it…

Revanche (2008)
Ex-con Alex dreams about starting a new life with the Ukrainian prostitute Tamara. To do so, he wants to rob a bank erasing debts and making the flight towards the South possible. But Tamara is unintentionally shot on the escape by the coincidentally present policeman, Robert. Alex flees to the farm of his grandfather and learns that Robert lives close by…thoughts of revenge start to arise.
